My First Blog Post

Hi there! Welcome to my first blog! As I sit here watching New Girl with my boyfriend, Austin, and pup Polka I can't help but think that I have A LOT of thoughts. And some of them could actually help others. While some of them might lead readers to think "why?". I decided to start writing about it all. Teacher life. Being a dog mom. Girlfriend life. Daughter & friend life. & of course my health and fitness journey. All things from workouts to recipes and meal planning. MY only hope is that there will be someone reading along, at some point, going through the same things I am, or in need of a quick recipe that I share, or even just possibly someone will be inspired to make a change in their life.

So I guess I'll start with my thoughts from today. First off, my students were crazy today! I mean I heard myself asking questions like "but why would you put that in your mouth?", "why are you making those noises?", and my personal favorite of the day "you accidentally touched what?!" The thing about being a teacher is you have to be the best actress/actor almost all day everyday. Like today. It was a rough day for me.

A week ago today we had to put my sweet dog, Chuck, down. It wasn't something that was planned or a long time coming. He was five years old. His body deteriorated so fast that within 48 hours my whole life had changed. Anyways, I'm thinking I'll do a whole different blog post about my sweet Chuck, so let's get back to teachers being great actresses. I wanted to curl up in a ball and cry all day, but I didn't. I taught about myths, ancient Greece, and even a little art project. Like I said, students were crazy. And I was thinking all day... why today? Why is this the day my students want to make unusually loud and obnoxious noises while I'm talking? I kept my patience all day, I even laughed and smiled to make sure my students didn't notice my mood was pretty negative. I did a good job. As I left work I realized WHY. It was a full moon. If you work with children, if you have children, or even just have friends who have children- I challenge you to hang out with them on the next full moon. It will all make sense to you.

My reading corner.. prior to students entering the room :)
